The 2026 Melbourne Poker Championships are over for another year.

Brendon Rubie took down 1st place and $118,000 prize money. Rubie was relentless and exciting to watch. His bluff the day before on the runner up Minh Nguyen was probably the hand of the tournament – with raises and re-raises preflop, and an insta-muck on a open shove flop of KJ3, Rubie showed down 98s for complete air and the monster pot. It’s been a good year for Rubie as his online name has started to make waves as well. He now currently sits in the Australian Top 10 rankings for online players.

Amanda De Cesare might have come into the final table as the short stack, but she’s made another big Australian Poker final table and a solid finish in 5th for a $35,400 payday. Just adding the extra justification needed for the 1st season winner of “The Poker Star”. It takes her live tournament winnings well over 100k in the last 18 months.
